[arrl-odv:22185] W100AW

The first 19 hours of operation from Newington as W100AW yielded 3,700 QSOs. Coupled with a great start for the W1AW portable operations (especially from North Carolina) and terrific activity in the Centennial QSO Party -- including sterling appearances by many Board members -- the ARRL's 100th anniversary is off to a rollicking beginning! 73, Dave K1ZZ

I didn't have time to get into the fun today, but I saw several spots for K1ZZ, W1AW/4 and W100AW. Sounds like a rousing start to an interest year! A good first day indeed! I made about 200 contacts on 10 and 15 during some spare time. Worked K1ZZ, K5UR/QRPp, K0QB, and several others in the board. Definitely fun chatting with so many members and taking a moment to thank them for their support and involvement. Also worked W1AW/4 in NC, W1AW/8 in WV, and W100AW on 225 Main Street. See everyone in a few weeks! 73, Brian N5ZGT

Was great fun today. Worked about 300 total, including W100AW on 5 bands (6 mode QSO's), W1AW/4 on 7 bands (10 mode QSO's), W1AW/8 on 4 bands, and Board members N3KN, K1ZZ, K0QB, K9JF, N5ZGT, N2YBB, and WY7FD, with some on multiple bands. Heard, but missed, K0CA. Way to go, gang! 73, Rick - K5UR -----Original Message----- From: Brian Mileshosky <n5zgt@swcp.com> To: arrl-odv <arrl-odv@arrl.org> Sent: Wed, Jan 1, 2014 8:40 pm Subject: [arrl-odv:22187] Re: W100AW A good first day indeed! I just remembered another Board member that I heard on today but missed. It was KA0LDG. Kent, I heard you working someone, probably one of the AW stations, but it was their frequency so I wasn't able to call you at the time. Good showing of Board members on the air today...... 73, K5UR . -----Original Message----- From: k5ur <k5ur@aol.com> To: n5zgt <n5zgt@swcp.com>; arrl-odv <arrl-odv@arrl.org> Sent: Wed, Jan 1, 2014 9:47 pm Subject: [arrl-odv:22189] Re: W100AW Was great fun today. I have a little over 300 stations in the log so far, some CW and PSK31 but mostly phone. I've worked W100AW on phone and CW, W1AW/4 and W1AW/8 on phone. From the Board and HQ Staff I've worked K1ZZ (and KA1ZD), WJ1B, W3IZ, K5UR, K5UZ, K0CA, N2YBB, NN1N, WY7FD (and WY7KRA). Worked past Pacific Division Director W6DPD. If I left anybody out, please excuse me. I don't have my log on this computer. I've heard very positive comments about the ARRL and the operating events on the air and on Facebook. It occurred to me yesterday that I should call CQ in the Technician phone segment on 10 meters. I didn't get much business but it's the principle of the thing and I'll do it again. I'm also checking the band chart to be sure I'm well within the General segment before starting a run. I have offered to work locals on 2m simplex. No takers yet. A station calling CQ from Virginia doesn't usually provoke much of a pile-up. It's fun to have one to dig into. 73 - Kay N3KN

Happy New Year all! What a BLAST! On and off I logged around 170 calls. I started the night at 00:00 Z with W1AW/4 (Dennis K7BV) and just kept going. Broke for the ball drop in Times Square (tv, of course. Only nutty kids freeze their rears off in town). Came back after midnight to work W100AW. Running like a contest, but spending time to chat with members calling in, is a real pleasure. Also worked K3KN, K5UR, K1ZZ, K0CA, K9JF, WY7FD and WY7KRA, W1HQ, and 100, /4, and /8 various bands and modes. Saw cluster posts for K5UZ and N5ZGT but missed both of them. See you on the bands (and in Newington later this month). 73 de Mike - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Mike Lisenco, N2YBB Director, Hudson Division ARRL - The national association for Amateur Radio™ 917-865-3538 n2ybb@arrl.org

FB Dave! Good numbers indeed! I managed to knock out a few on 160, 80, 20 and 10 CW some with vintage bugs and keys in concert with SKN - a two-for-one bargain for about 80 or so ops. I could barely copy Brian on 10m this AM, but did manage to work K0CA on 80CW last night, you and Kay on SSB today. I mostly ran CW due to my crud weakened voice with W100AW in the log on 160, 80, 40, and 10. W1AW/8 and W1AW/4 were worked several times. Lots of good emails and phone calls today praising this operating event! 73 ES HNY David A.
