[arrl-odv:30337] Fwd: PPP Question

OK, here is the first question I've received from a member in my Division related to the PPP loan. What is the ARRL "official message" on this issue, and how do I answer this? 73; Mike W7VO
---------- Original Message ---------- From: Jerry BOYD <EXLASD@msn.com> To: "w7vo@arrl.org" <w7vo@arrl.org> Date: May 21, 2020 at 11:00 AM Subject: Question
Mike
Supposedly the ARRL applied for a loan under the PPP (CoronaVirus stimulus) . If true that raises two questions in my mind.
#1. Has the ARRL laid off any employees due to COVID 19?
#2. Has the ARRL lost income as a result of COVID 19?
I am not opposed to any “business” attempting to offset losses. However I am concerned since the League is a member based “business” as to the justification of such an application if, in fact, one was made.
Thanks
Jerry

He's saying that you answered him already: https://forums.qrz.com/index.php?threads/may-4-executive-committee-arrl-spec... I have not answered any questions, as I consider these to be personnel matters, so unless I get HQ clearance that's my position. Mike: The answer isn’t as simple as a yes or no. I am attaching a statement that was written as a news story but you should us it ONLY for talking points. Please do NOT send it out verbatim as we may want to use it as our official statement from the organization in the future. If it goes out in any other way, we will lose control of the narrative and look like we’re being defensive in response to questions of the tone expressed by your member. We should be proud of the fact that we did the right thing for the organization, and our members. I would tell W7VO that the loan was applied for because we were in a position of having to furlough employees as the result of the CT Governor’s mandate to reduce the number of people in the office by 100%, There were some staff who were unable to perform their jobs remotely and therefore would have been out of work. In addition, we were experiencing a loss of revenue as a result of the pandemic as well as a significant loss of asset values in our unrestricted assets. As I told the Board, there are any number of people who think they know better than the SBA who should participate in this program and they don’t. If you have any questions after reviewing the attached information, please let me know. 73, Barry, N1VXY From: arrl-odv <arrl-odv-bounces@reflector.arrl.org> On Behalf Of Michael Ritz Sent: Thursday, May 21, 2020 5:52 PM To: arrl-odv <arrl-odv@reflector.arrl.org> Subject: [arrl-odv:30337] Fwd: PPP Question OK, here is the first question I've received from a member in my Division related to the PPP loan. FYI, there is now a website where you can search who received loans: https://www.pppspy.com/ We are on there. So far, nobody has really asked me and apart from the initial QRZ discussions, nobody's really said anything. Ria N2RJ On Thu, 21 May 2020 at 18:37, Michael Ritz <w7vo@comcast.net> wrote:

The info on all recipients has been on the SBA website for a few weeks. This is just a more user-friendly way to get the data.
