[arrl-odv:29308] Value of our ARRL EmComm services?

I have a group in the NW Division HamWAN arena that want to craft a comment to the FCC regarding recent threats to the 5 and 9 cm amateur bands. One of the drafters has asked me to provide the total equivalent dollar value of EmComm services the ARES program provides the general public as part of their argument. I know I've seen a number thrown around somewhere in the past, but I'm at a loss to figure out where I saw it. Anybody remember, or can point me to where I can find that value? Thanks! 73; Mike W7VO

Mike Either Steve Ewald or Ken Bailey should have those numbers. from ARES Connect. 73, Dale Williams WA8EFK On 1/6/2020 7:56 PM, Michael Ritz wrote:

Unfortunately, almost every SEC in the Southeastern Division tells me that the compliance on ARES Connect is quite low. I have a litany of complaints about it, multiple suggestions that we've missed the mark and that we should "start over." The ICS 214s won't correlate with ARES Connect activity, so the numbers that you get from ARES Connect will likely be much lower than actual. We don't have an EM Director, so where does this information go? It is high on the list of complaints about ARES - where we have seen improvement. Mickey — For starters, how about sending it to me? Adoption of — and concerns about — ARESconnect is currently being monitored and evaluated by the PSEWG. Steve and Ken also include the volunteer time reports that are sent in by those not able to participate in the ARES Connect reporting system. 73 -- Dale On 1/6/2020 9:07 PM, Mickey Baker wrote:

Very few ARES units here in the NW Division will have anything to do with ARES Connect. Some whole states refuse to use the system until it's made easier to use, and the League addresses data security concerns that so far have been unanswered. I'll send an e-mail to Ken Bailey in the morning. Thanks! 73; Mike W7VO

We have lukewarm adoption here, and the section managers are pleading with people to use it. Ria N2RJ On Mon, Jan 6, 2020 at 9:36 PM Michael Ritz <w7vo@comcast.net> wrote:

Mike, Every ARRL Annual Report has information related to this. See attached at p. 8 forward, for example, from the latest (2018) Report. With regard to the FCC proceedings, I will have some information appropriate for general distribution tomorrow or Wednesday. All interested should be reminded that no deadlines for comments have been set, so there is plenty of time (at least 30+ days from tomorrow) to take the time to write an effective piece. We will appreciate the help. 73, Dave K3ZJ From: arrl-odv <arrl-odv-bounces@reflector.arrl.org> on behalf of Michael Ritz <w7vo@comcast.net> Reply-To: Michael Ritz <w7vo@comcast.net> Date: Monday, January 6, 2020 at 7:56 PM To: "arrl-odv@reflector.arrl.org" <arrl-odv@reflector.arrl.org> Subject: [arrl-odv:29308] Value of our ARRL EmComm services?
