[arrl-odv:29828] NAB Cancels Show

ODV, National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) canceled their mid-April Convention/show. https://tinyurl.com/w4bnc57 I believe that this show is the second-largest in the U.S., drawing 100,000 + from around the world in recent years. I know that someone from HQ was scheduled to attend on behalf of the ARRL, as in past years. IMHO, prospects for Dayton “are running on fumes”. 73, Dave David R. I believe the section manager has a booth, which he takes great pride in. Well, it looks like they’re falling one by one now. Dayton is next? 73 Ria N2RJ On Wed, Mar 11, 2020 at 3:44 PM david davidsiddall-law.com < david@davidsiddall-law.com> wrote:

Dave The cancellation of Visalia followed by NAB may very well presage the fate of all public gatherings of more than a few hundred people — particularly those expected to draw out-of-state and foreign visitors. In the West Gulf, that would mean the cancellation of at least two significant hamfests between now and July. Depending on the advance of the spread, Field Day may be at risk in those areas with confirmed outbreaks. I wonder if Joe Taylor has a digital solution? _______________________________________ John Robert Stratton N5AUS Director West Gulf Division Office:512-445-6262 Cell:512-426-2028 P.O. Apple has asked 12,000 of us in the Santa Clara Valley to work from home, unless we absolutely have to be there, until further notice. I had to go in to get some hardware and it was eerily empty at Apple Park. My son said Google just did something similar.

ODV,
National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) canceled their mid-April Convention/show.
I believe that this show is the second-largest in the U.S., drawing 100,000 + from around the world in recent years.
I know that someone from HQ was scheduled to attend on behalf of the ARRL, as in past years.
IMHO, prospects for Dayton “are running on fumes”.
73, Dave

Apple has asked 12,000 of us in the Santa Clara Valley to work from home, unless we absolutely have to be there, until further notice. I had to go in to get some hardware and it was eerily empty at Apple Park. My son said Google just did something similar.

The cancellation of Visalia followed by NAB may very well presage the fate of all public gatherings of more than a few hundred people — particularly those expected to draw out-of-state and foreign visitors.
In the West Gulf, that would mean the cancellation of at least two significant hamfests between now and July.
Depending on the advance of the spread, Field Day may be at risk in those areas with confirmed outbreaks.
I wonder if Joe Taylor has a digital solution?
