Hi, all. I just got word from AF6WU, trustee of the KT5BSA club license, that Boy Scouts of America Troop 5 (Los Angeles Section) is the first in the country to qualify for the DX Century Club! To accomplish this, the troop set up portable HF stations at their various campouts and other events, and every one of their two dozen members contributed to working the countries needed to qualify. Travis and his wife, Kjerstin AF6KJ, have done a fine job with these young Hams, providing guidance, encouragement and opportunity to get them active on the air. It is my pleasure to present report #27 of the Ad Hoc study committee on LotW. This small group has reviewed a wide variety of factors affecting LotW, While we anticipate requiring the rest of 2013 to finish our work, the committee has been able to identify a number of factors that need to be addressed in LotW in the near term. I am sure our report will raise some additional questions, and will be happy to discuss them during the Board meeting, in session or out. Colleagues - Regretfully, I will be unable to attend next week's board meeting. I have a major spaceborne deliverable I'm leading that's been shifted to the next few weeks, triggering (or delaying, in the event of problems) other activities leading to launch. Vice-Director Dwayne Allen will pinch hit in my absence. I'm working with the ad-hoc Committee on Youth in the Second Century to review and finalize its report to the board and will distribute it as soon as it's flight worthy. I'll be available via email or phone leading up to the meeting to answer any questions related to it.
