Greetings. Sorry for this but after too quickly pulling the trigger on the recommended script for dealing with those who might express interest in the CEO Screening Committee, I got two rather important edits suggested for the text. Both are in the same vein and both relate to the fact that we have to be very careful about telling people what our procedures are going to be (regardless of when those procedures are actually invoked), lest there be issues that could be raised by those who might be interested in the position whose expectations are dashed. So I have removed the reference to when the committee will commence its work, and the reference to where we will publish any eventual job opening. No commitments equals no obligations in this context. PLEASE use this text instead of the prior text when dealing with eager beaver inquirers: RECOMMENDED SCRIPT FOR ADDRESSING THOSE WHO RESPOND TO THE CEO CANDIDATE SCREENING COMMITTEE ANNOUNCEMENT Thank you for your interest in ARRL’s management. The ARRLCEO has no immediate plans to retire. The Board of Directors has established aCEO Candidate Screening Committee as a mechanism to prepare for an event thatwill happen at an undetermined date considerably in the future. ARRL is not now soliciting applicants for theposition and no expressions of interest will be entertained or evaluated now orin the near future. Toward the end of the Board meeting, it was requested that I prepare a recommended script for Board members' use in responding to those who express interest in the position now, or to inquire about Mr. Sumner's plans. Below is that recommended script. RECOMMENDED SCRIPTFOR ADDRESSING THOSE WHO RESPOND TO THE CEO CANDIDATESCREENING COMMITTEE ANNOUNCEMENT Thank you for your interest in ARRL’s management. The ARRLCEO has no immediate plans to retire.
