Brian, Great idea. There are a number of Mac/ham developers on the web who might bite at this. However, public service oriented iphone apps are usually free. One of our local TV news station WCPO has a great app. Free. All the google apps including Google Earth. Free. Folks just seem to like writing apps for the fame and glory and/or to promote themselves or organizations. But many of the free apps are bait towards buying apps with greater functionality. I wonder if Google would be interested in going a Google-ham series? An app that simply linked to web based ARRL services would be quite useful, and could have a membership appication linked to PayPal built in. Writ of Mandamus

The FCC attorney handling the Court of Appeals BPL matter called Chris yesterday and ask if we would be withdrawing our petition for a writ of mandamus since the FCC had now complied with the Court's instructions. Dave and I have instructed Chris to advise him that by posting all of the BPL files in a single 870-MB zip file that is overloaded with video and audio files and takes hours and hours to download, the FCC had not provided "a reasonable opportunity for public comment" and that he should tell the FCC attorney we will not withdraw our petition until this is fixed. Assuming they do fix it, our petition will be moot and we won't really have any choice but to withdraw it. We have also discussed filing an extension of time to file for comments on the FCC's NPRM. We really can't file until the FNPRM appears in the Federal Register, which starts the clock, but we told Chris that we should be ready to file for an extension at that time. That does NOT mean we won't be able to file comments within the original time frame if we don't receive an extension, but 30 days is a rather short time frame to file comments on a proceeding with such a large amount of data to review and the additional time will be helpful. 73 Joel W5ZN

Hi, I hope that everyone had a safe trip home. A bunch of folks have asked me if the pictures taken at the Board meeting will be made available to them. Yes, they will be. We asked the photographer to supply them to us a Web ready jpgs and we can certainly send you a copy. However, she said that she would be happy to supply them in other formats such as prints or higher resolution graphics. There may be some additional charges for this work. Brian, et al, Carl Yaffey, K8NU or Columbus, OH has two Amateur Radio apps avail. He is interested in developing still more apps, but says he has no good ideas for these at this time.
