According to my Radio Astronomy sources, Dr. John D Kraus,W8JK, passed away on 7/18. >From the Bigear site: "It is with deep regret that I tell you of the death of Dr. John D. Hi, First on a personal note as many of you have asked about my health. I visited with my ENT this morning and he is sending me to a clinic that specializes in these types of problems. He did indicate that he thought something was going on in my inner ear. In the mean time, I'm still suffering with bouts of vertigo and not sure what to do about it since my medication seemed to cause me to have worse problems at the board meeting. Now to serious business. I could wait until the minutes are out but help me remember who was to build the plan for the 2005 National Convention? Let's hope it fails on its own merits (or lack thereof). People in urban/suburban areas aren't going to sign up unless it's significantly cheaper than cable or DSL (which it won't be) and it's impractical to run it out to Farmer Brown who is 40 miles out of town. Thanks to Tom for pointing this out. The minutes as of now do not exist. Dave Patton has given me a first draft, and we will turn that into a second draft tomorrow. We may or may not be able to get them out to you all in draft form tomorrow, but even if we do they are not official until there's been an opportunity for further corrections. The Board meeting article will be put to bed soon after, because QST goes to the printer on Thursday of this week. So the best advice to people is to QRX, we'll have the information to them as quickly as we can do so accurately. I've seen references to minutes from the recent Board meeting in a couple of places today. I know the minutes aren't out yet since Dave always sends them out and gives us 24 hours or so to catch any errors. There is also no web story about the meeting as of 5pm today. In the past we've often had a web story up late on Sunday but the last year or so it has dragged on for a day or two. As a result people are no doubt asking Board members (and staff) what happened. [ARRL-ODV:10912] Friedrichshafen meeting

I hope everyone arrived home safely. Both Rod Stafford and I mentioned the Friedrichshafen convention in our Board Meeting reports. I served as secretary of the informal international meeting that is held there each year. I just received clearance from the chairman to release the minutes, and forward them to you in case you're interested in seeing what was discussed.
