[arrl-odv:28904] Fwd: The CAL FIRE Ham Radio Update & Interview. The Facts Revealed

Presumably this is from the Idaho section. I have no idea who he sent this to other than me. N2RJ ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: ARRL ID Section <arrl.idaho@gmail.com> Date: Sun, Oct 20, 2019 at 12:32 PM Subject: The CAL FIRE Ham Radio Update & Interview. The Facts Revealed To: <n2rj@arrl.org> The questions raised about the ARRL in this video and many more have repeatedly come up in several different ways in recent times. It doesn't matter if it's about Winlink, or California hams, the actions and comments of the ARRL do not go unnoticed. The CAL FIRE Ham Radio Update & Interview. The Facts Revealed <https://youtu.be/LHzyk457zIM>

I assume this was sent to all Directors, as I received a copy addressed similarly. It is in your rights as a Director to comment publicly, but I suggest you might wait until a response, if any, is put out by California ARRL and/or HQ. I listened to the self-described "Comedy Ham Radio Show." Initial executive summary follows: 1) A local problem with a repeater site in northern California was brought up. 2) ARRL suggested an approach. 3) The locals did exactly what the ARRL suggested. 4) The potential problem appears to likely be resolving itself. 5) The ARRL is now at fault for not doing the suggested local-level work, and effectively forcing those locals involved to do it themselves. 73, Dick, N6AA On Sun, Oct 20, 2019 at 9:42 AM rjairam@gmail.com <rjairam@gmail.com> wrote:

Very interesting. Certainly a very negative video regarding our official response to the CAL FIRE issue, and his reader responses, for the most part, indicate that people are buying his Kool-Aid. The fact that this is a "for profit" You-Tube video, intentionally meant to stir things up to generate clicks and views diminishes my opinion of its value. He even admits that it's intended to be "comedy". I don't quite understand that. I agree with Dick though, I don't know what people expect ARRL HQ to do with a localized problem like this. We certainly do not have the resources to tackle every problem that comes up within a local jurisdiction. If our local ARES repeater here in Columbia County, Oregon was threatened to be kicked out of its site I certainly wouldn't expect the national organization to jump in and help justify it being there. That's just not practical, but that is what some are expecting. This is a local problem, and the local hams apparently are dealing with it, as they should. 73; Mike W7VO

The problem is that it’s being represented as a statewide and possibly national issue. K6UDA’s intentions are very clear - grow his YouTube channel and fatten his bank account by bashing the league and its efforts. Ria N2RJ On Sun, Oct 20, 2019 at 2:59 PM Michael Ritz <w7vo@comcast.net> wrote:
