[arrl-odv:25472] Spectrum Frontiers order and FNPRM

The FCC just released the actual order from yesterday's 5G wireless broadband "Spectrum Frontiers" rulemaking. The Commission declined to consider the 47 GHz amateur band. I am reading the order to see if they said anything about why they aren't. FCC TAKES STEPS TO FACILITATE MOBILE BROADBAND AND NEXT GENERATION WIRELESS TECHNOLOGIES IN SPECTRUM ABOVE 24 GHZ. It appears that aside from an acknowledgement that the 47-47.2 GHz band was placed on the agenda of WRC-19, the band is not discussed in the FNPRM at all. A domestic battle avoided is a win. Thank again, Brennan, I note in the "Proposals" section following the R&O that new allocations are being considered for frequency segments beginning at the upper edges of our 24- and 47-GHz bands. It may be appropriate for us to consider whether any comments re. out-of-band emission limits would be in order. I will ping the microwave community out here. I hope everyone had safe journeys home. 73, Marty N6VI From: arrl-odv [mailto:arrl-odv-bounces@reflector.arrl.org] On Behalf Of Price, Brennan, N4QX Sent: Friday, July 15, 2016 12:34 PM To: arrl-odv Subject: [arrl-odv:25474] Re: Spectrum Frontiers order and FNPRM It appears that aside from an acknowledgement that the 47-47.2 GHz band was placed on the agenda of WRC-19, the band is not discussed in the FNPRM at all.
