[arrl-odv:27421] Draft of Minutes from July Board Meeting

Wow, Tom, excellent proofreading! Just some comments: "Mr. Roderick moved the Report of the CEO Search Committee to item 5 on the meeting agenda." That was actually a motion to amend that needed to be seconded and voted on. Not sure if that happened My recollection is that this process did happen. p11 item 19 - motion made but no vote was recorded? Prior to the motion, there is a line "On the motion of Mr. Boehner, seconded by Mr. Tiemstra, the Board ADOPTED the following motion:" Granted that the actual vote was not indicated. p18 item 26 - Did we really award the 2017 professional media award for video reporting for an interview that took place in May 2018? I spoke with Vice Director Bill Morine who is the board liaison to the Public Relations Committee. He is at a Hamfest, but recalls that the Bill Leonard Award was a holdover from 2017, and the interview took place in September 2017. We do not have access to the primary documents at this time, but it should be indicated in the PRC/PSC minutes. --As far as the [Mr. vs. Dr.] that Dave N. brought up, I really never got a read on that, but at least it is consistent through the document. Is this a Roberts R&R recommendation? Dan, great work on the minutes! Hi Dan - Just a few comments :-) In addition to W4OZK's comment, the meeting started at 9am ET or EDT, not EST. where you can, please indicate where votes were unanimous p6 - scholarships $130,000 not $130,0000 change "The next round of scholarship opens on October 1, 2018." to "The next round of scholarship applications opens on October 1, 2018. "Mr. Roderick moved the Report of the CEO Search Committee to item 5 on the meeting agenda." That was actually a motion to amend that needed to be seconded and voted on. Not sure if that happened CEO search exec session - Chris Imlay was asked to stay also p7 item 12 - who will know what the Mintz & Hoke project is. How about adding "lifelong learning"? We haven't described anything about it to members. p.8 item 13 - was VD Stratton really missing for 40 minutes? p11 item 19 - motion made but no vote was recorded? p18 item 26 - Did we really award the 2017 professional media award for video reporting for an interview that took place in May 2018? item 27 - this was just a recognition, not an established ARRL award being granted? p22 item 31 - Mr Williams seconded remove extra "i." on first line on right side First use of PSC should be spelled out p24 item 33 - Our records say this club is called the Walla Walla Valley ARC Also, the last paragraph of the motion has some un-needed capitalization southeastern Washington, and northeastern Oregon amateur radio community. p24 item 34 - By Robert's Rules, only one person can move p26, item 36 - our records show the Apple City ARC was affiliated in July 1953 - that's 66 years not 48 http://www.arrl.org/Groups/view/apple-city-radio-club/type:club 73 Tom ===== e-mail: k1ki@arrl.org ARRL New England Division Director http://www.arrl.org/ Tom Frenaye, K1KI, P O Box J, West Suffield CT 06093 Phone: 860-668-5444

QSL, thanks for double checking Jim and Bill. Motion 25 - The interview with KI1U for NPR was on 9/29/17 <http://www.wnyc.org/story/ham-radio-operators>http://www.wnyc.org/story/ham-radio-operators Motion 26 - The most recent interview with KI1U regarding Hurricane Maria was on the Weather Channel in May 2018 - http://www.arrl.org/files/file/Media%20&%20PR/ARRL_HurricaneMaria.mp4 Maybe the story the PR committee reviewed was from last fall, right after Maria? I couldn't tell when the show aired from the motion or even which show was but I think there was at least one story on the Weather Channel last fall. I just want to be sure we could reference the right interview and make sure it was during 2017. Aha, just found it: https://www.facebook.com/TheWeatherChannel/videos/10155878873375921/ It was referenced in the ARRL PR Media Hits page under "Georgia" from September 28, 2017. So I guess the minutes are all OK on that point. -- Tom ===== e-mail: k1ki@arrl.org ARRL New England Division Director http://www.arrl.org/ Tom Frenaye, K1KI, P O Box J, West Suffield CT 06093 Phone: 860-668-5444
