Hi all: I regret to inform you that Bill Hudzik has tendered his resignation from the Board as Vice Director effective Tuesday, February 1, 2022. Bill, thank you, sir, for all that you have done for the League and for Amateur Radio! You are a valued and respected colleague and we will miss you. Bill joined the Board in 2011. 73,Rick - K5UR

Bill: Thanks for serving the Hudson Division members and best wishes. Will miss seeing you at board meetings! 73, Jeff, K0RM Formerly your next door neighbor from Berkeley Heights ________________________________ From: arrl-odv <arrl-odv-bounces@reflector.arrl.org> on behalf of Roderick, Rick, K5UR via arrl-odv <arrl-odv@reflector.arrl.org> Sent: Sunday, January 30, 2022 7:56:20 PM To: arrl-odv <arrl-odv@arrl.org> Subject: [arrl-odv:33364] Bill - W2UDT Hi all: I regret to inform you that Bill Hudzik has tendered his resignation from the Board as Vice Director effective Tuesday, February 1, 2022. I would like to convey a huge thank you to Bill for his years of dedicated service to the Hudson Division, and the Northern New Jersey Section. When I was elected Director, one of the things I was most excited about was working with my dear friend Bill. In fact, Bill often has done much valuable work in club outreach in Northern NJ and also Field Day coverage and has helped me get the word out in all of the Division. But more than that, Bill as a Section Manager back in the mid 00s was almost completely responsible for our exemption in the New Jersey cell phone law. This was not a conditional exemption under special circumstances, nor was it an opinion from the DMV or similar. This was a blanket exemption for amateur radio written in the statute. Even when the law was updated to cover texting and other distractions, amateur radio's blanket exemption survived. Bill's knowledge of NJ state Government has been invaluable in my efforts to bring awareness to amateur radio in Trenton. Most recently I presented about amateur radio at Engineer's week at the state house. Bill and I go back only a few years (about 16 years), to 2006 when I joined the North Jersey DX Association, and when I was being sponsored for membership by former ARRL 1st VP and former Hudson Division Director (and Vice-Director) Steve Mendelsohn, W2ML. Past Director Frank Fallon (N2FF), Bill, Steve and I would also have lots of interesting conversations about the future of amateur radio and ARRL at the NJDXA picnic every year. Bill truly embodied ARRL service and it was because of him that I gained deep respect and admiration for those who serve ARRL and amateur radio. But more recently, Bill and his wife Mary Ann and I were regulars at breakfast at Board meetings, and it was so wonderful to have someone who I could chat with about local stuff... even though we have a few Jersey expats on the Board. Moreover Bill and Mary Ann are in my thoughts and prayers as they go through this difficult time, and I will definitely be checking in on my dear friend Bill at the NJDXA meetings. TL;DR - This hits me very hard personally, and it is extremely tough to find someone who can fill Bill's shoes. But I understand that Bill needs to take care of himself, and I support him in this regard. 73 Ria, N2RJ ________________________________ From: arrl-odv <arrl-odv-bounces@reflector.arrl.org> on behalf of Roderick, Rick, K5UR via arrl-odv <arrl-odv@reflector.arrl.org> Sent: Sunday, January 30, 2022 9:56 PM To: arrl-odv <arrl-odv@arrl.org> Subject: [arrl-odv:33364] Bill - W2UDT Hi all: I regret to inform you that Bill Hudzik has tendered his resignation from the Board as Vice Director effective Tuesday, February 1, 2022. Dear Bill: Ria is most eloquent in describing your accomplishments. As a New Jersey expat and fellow back bencher, you too greeted me warmly when I joined the board in 2015. It was fun comparing notes on the common haunts we frequented between my "2" call QTH in South Orange, NJ and yours in Gillette. You and Mary Ann have been enormously gracious and supportive to me and everyone else on the board. We will miss your wisdom and the twinkle in your eyes. I still look forward to a piece of pie (not "Pi") with you at the Summit Diner. All the best, and thanks for all you've done for Amateur Radio. 73 de Bill Morine, N2COP Vice Director - Roanoke Division Representing ARRL members in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia ARRL - the national association for Amateur Radio Facebook Page: ARRL Roanoke Division Website: <http://www.arrl-roanoke.org> www.arrl-roanoke.org From: arrl-odv <arrl-odv-bounces@reflector.arrl.org> On Behalf Of Jairam, Ria, N2RJ (Dir, HD) Sent: Sunday, January 30, 2022 10:15 PM To: arrl-odv <arrl-odv@arrl.org>; k5ur@aol.com Subject: [arrl-odv:33366] Re: Bill - W2UDT I would like to convey a huge thank you to Bill for his years of dedicated service to the Hudson Division, and the Northern New Jersey Section. Bill, I remember your entrance on the board, one year after me. We had great conversations as vice directors. It was so nice to see you and your lovely wife at the board meeting. Thanks for all you have done as a contributor to the board process and work in your division. This meeting did not have the event this year, but for future board meetings, we will do the Lively Arts Society Friday Movie in your honor! That is sad news. I understand Bill's challenge and wish him well. Bill was my mentor in the back row. I sat next to him for the years that I was Vice Director. He explained what was going on, what was expected from me, and what he found funny and distracting. I've never known him to talk down about anyone. But with a twinkle in his eye, he did point out the humor or irony when it occurred. Thanks, Bill, for your friendship and for your patient tutoring. 73, Art On 1/30/2022 8:56 PM, Roderick, Rick, K5UR via arrl-odv wrote:

Bill: I will miss our interesting chats out in the atrium during the various “committee of the whole” exclusions for a few hours back in the day when vice-directors were excluded from certain matters as not being considered board members and otherwise when we discussed ham radio issues. The advice and counsel you gave me a few years ago turned out to be valuable – and you were right on the money too. I also always enjoyed speaking with your spouse Mary Ann when she was a sitting NJ superior court judge and now retired and a mediator. (I am a NJ bar member). Was always an interesting experience. I join in wishing you and yours the best of luck. I will always appreciate the encouragement and support you provide me. See you on the radio.
