[arrl-odv:28661] Winlink "brushfire"

To ODV: We are getting a lot of heat from a Winlink-related “brushfire” down here. There’s more smoke than light being emitted but, basically, it’s tied to the fact that our July 2019 Board meeting Minutes did not report that at the time we discussed and passed Minute 31 we agreed to refer the proposed expansion of the ACDS to the Board’s Band Planning Committee. I know I heard words to that effect stated, as did Vice Director Morine. Without that intention being published, the bulk of my incoming e-mail is highly critical of Minute 31, accusing the Board of wanting to destroy amateur radio EmComm by throwing everybody into a woefully inadequate segment. Is it possible to amend the official Minutes to add a statement showing that Rick tasked the Band Planning Committee with studying and proposing expansion of the ACDS bands (or whatever the right wording is)? Bud, W2RU

Hi Bud, I believe Dave Siddall said that wants to put that in the FCC filing. As you are on the EC that should be worked out with him. 73 Ria, N2RJ On Wed, Aug 28, 2019 at 12:43 PM W2RU - ARRL <W2RU@arrl.org> wrote:

Bud, I think this is a very reasonable solution to the immediate onslaught of e-mails. After returning home last evening, I had to go back to the minutes to review the ACDS discussion and compare them with the complaints and my recollection of the discussion. The intent of the Minute is not present. I have yet to respond to the questioning, but having a clarification from HQ on the issue should quiet things while the Band Plan Committee takes action. - 73 Dale WA8EFK On 8/28/2019 12:42 PM, W2RU - ARRL wrote:

After discussion with a couple of folks, I withdraw my suggestion of an amendment to the Minutes. I suspect the next ARRL E-Letter will have the right words. Back to your regularly scheduled programming. Bud, W2RU

Me too. A written clarification is the better choice. -- Dale WA8EFK On 8/28/2019 1:12 PM, W2RU - ARRL wrote:

Rick Lindquist, Dan Henderson and I are working now on a story to be published in this week's ARRL Letter. It has already been written to deal with Bud's concerns about the bandplanning committee. 73, Greg, K0GW On Wed, Aug 28, 2019 at 12:47 PM Dale Williams <dale.wms1@frontier.com> wrote:
