[arrl-odv:25049] A Normal Monday in Newington

While folks to the south of us got pounded, here in northern Connecticut Saturday's storm amounted to just a few inches of snow - nothing out of the ordinary. So we're fully functional this morning. 73, Dave K1ZZ

All is also normal with the Northern Virginia telecommuters, although such would not likely be the case if we weren't telecommuting. There are 28 inches of snow with drifts of 4+ feet at my QTH in Vienna, Virginia. Luckily, power is still on, and so are we. Which is more than can be said for the federal government: all non-emergency, non-telecommuting federal workers have the day off. Brennan T. In Western South Carolina, we woke up Saturday to 1 inch of snow (which for here is a big deal!). The Pets had a good romp in the snow, and then came in and did not go out again until the snow melted later that afternoon. Rick Lindquist lives in ME, and he said it was not snowing there. Interesting winter storm. Glad to hear ARRL HQ is operational, and no casualties reported. Good Morning from snowy NYC -- We got around 31 inches of snow in my part of Brooklyn. Over the course of the storm, I had to get out in the backyard a number of times to clear an area for the dogs to go. White-out conditions during the storm made that difficult. And then, to avoid shoveling 31 inches at once, we went out 3 times during the course of the storm to clear the front steps, yard and a path on the sidewalk for anyone crazy enough to be out and about. NYC actually shut down all roads at 2:30 pm on Saturday, something I’ve never, ever seen happen. The car is buried and will stay in its spot for some days. The last place I want to be is out driving. The main roads will eventually be cleared, but the sidestreets will be impassible for a couple more days. I got an email from Rick Lindquist on Saturday during the worst of the storm asking if my SMs or SECs had reached out to me. I had to laugh to myself as no one was going anywhere! I told him that all I was going to do was not to talk to anyone, drink hot chocolate, and alternately watch the storm or watch TV – AFTER I GOT VP8STI!!! (12, 15 AND 20 cw). You think we had it bad? Look at their condx. Anyway, it’s another Monday morning. The sun is shining. The snow in the backyard is yellow. The melt begins. All is right with the world! It’s clear here with temperatures likely to hit the 80’s later this week. Wow! Mike and Brennan got buried! We had 6-8 inches in Central AR with thunder sleet and thunder snow early Friday AM. It's all melting away now. 73 David A. Norris, K5UZ Director, Delta Division Sent from my iPhone

Just to round out the picture, we live 7-8 miles NW of Bradley airport along the CT/MA border. Our snowfall total was 0.1". Yes one-tenth. Add that to the one inch received just before the Board meeting for our winter total so far. Forecast is for rain showers next week. -- Tom ===== e-mail: k1ki@arrl.org ARRL New England Division Director http://www.arrl.org/ Tom Frenaye, K1KI, P O Box J, West Suffield CT 06093 Phone: 860-668-5444

Dusting of snow here with an inch or two more predicted this afternoon. According to the local weather folks Mike's 31" single snowfall exceeds the Minneaoplis/St. Paul record by 3". 73, Jay, KØQB -----Original Message----- From: arrl-odv [mailto:arrl-odv-bounces@reflector.arrl.org] On Behalf Of Mike Lisenco N2YBB Sent: Monday, January 25, 2016 9:06 AM To: Sumner, Dave, K1ZZ; arrl-odv Subject: [arrl-odv:25052] Re: A Normal Monday in Newington Good Morning from snowy NYC -- We got around 31 inches of snow in my part of Brooklyn.
