27 JUN 2011 - 1635 CDT My faith in our legal system was finally restored earlier today. The jury in the federal retrial of impeached Illinois Governor Rod Blagoevich found him guilty on 17 of the 20 counts. Below is the count-by-count tally published by the Chicago Tribune at 2:30 PM CDT today. Looks like he will be spending several years in a (white collar) federal jail prison. FYI, the jury consisted of eleven women one man. It was one woman who deadlocked the previous jury on all but one of the counts. - Dick Isely ========================================================================== Guilty Count 1 Wire Fraud - Solicitation of Childrens Memorial Hospital Guilty Count 2 Wire Fraud Sale of <http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/politics/government/u.s.-senate-ORGOV0000134.topic>U.S. Senate seat Guilty Count 3 Wire Fraud Sale of U.S. Senate seat Guilty Count 4 Wire Fraud Sale of U.S. Senate seat Guilty Count 5 Wire Fraud Sale of U.S. Senate seat Guilty Count 6 Wire Fraud Sale of U.S. Senate seat Guilty Count 7 Wire Fraud Sale of U.S. Senate seat Guilty Count 8 Wire Fraud Sale of U.S. Senate seat Guilty Count 9 Wire Fraud Solicitation of racetrack executive Guilty Count 10 Wire Fraud Sale of U.S. Senate seat Deadlocked Count 11 Attempted Extortion - Solicitation of U.S. congressman Guilty Count 12 Attempted Extortion Solicitation of Childrens Memorial Hospital Guilty Count 13 Bribery Solicitation of Childrens Memorial Hospital Guilty Count 14 Conspiracy to Commit Extortion Solicitation of racetrack executive Guilty Count 15 Conspiracy to Commit Bribery Solicitation of racetrack executive Deadlocked Count 16 Attempted Extortion Solicitation of construction executive Not Guilty Count 17 Bribery Solicitation of construction executive Guilty Count 18 Extortion Conspiracy Sale of U.S. Senate seat Guilty Count 19 Attempted Extortion Sale of U.S. Senate seat Guilty Count 20 Conspiracy to Commmit Bribery Sale of U.S. Senate seat
