1) The concept of a group of politicians voting their opposition out of office for alleged blasphemy is not something that comes close to my concept of ethical behavior. I note that it is however, the method used very successfully by the Iranian Guardian Council. Consequently, I will go on record as voting to yes on item 1, review of the decision to finding Mr Rehman "ineligible for reelection." 2) With respect to the complaints against Mr Sarratt, it's not straightforward. If it is true that the Orlando Hamcation chairman asked that Sarratt remove the chairman's picture from campaign literature that seems to imply support for Sarratt's candidacy, it is beyond me that the E&E Committee did not also ask for its removal. However, my view is that he members in the Southeastern Division are the ones who should decide who represents them, not me, or some other group of directors. Consequently, I vote to not review the Committee's decision to allow Sarratt to run. 3) The concept of voting on issues without discussion does not come close to my concept of either fair play, good business practice, or ethical conduct. 4) The end results of this action is likely to surpass the League's recent success in its NTS activities. 72 (not a typo), Dick Norton, N6AA On Fri, Sep 23, 2016 at 10:25 AM, Roderick, Rick, K5UR via arrl-odv < arrl-odv@reflector.arrl.org> wrote:
Hi all:
There are two issues before the Board concerning decisions of the Ethics and Elections Committee. First, Doug Rehman asked for review per Bylaw 41 of the decision by the E&E Committee that he is not eligible for re-election (ODV:25723). Second, Doug requested a review of the determination by E&E that Greg Sarratt is qualified as a candidate for election (ODV:25724) based on a complaint Doug filed with the E&E Committee. You have received two reports from the E&E that CEO Gallagher circulated, one on each issue.
We need to have a vote on whether or not either or both of these decisions of the E&E Committee should be reviewed. There will be two separate votes. If a majority of the Board votes no, then the respective matter will be deemed concluded. If a majority of the Board votes yes, then on that respective matter we will proceed to decide whether a majority of the Directors wishes to reverse the decision of the E&E Committee after review.
Therefore, I am asking that each Director *vote on each* of the following questions:
*1. Should the Board review the decision of the Ethics and Elections Committee finding Doug Rehman <https://mail.aol.com/webmail-std/en-us/suite>, K4AC, ineligible for re-election? _______Yes _______No*
*2. Should the Board review the decision of the Ethics and Elections Committee regarding the ethics complaint by Doug Rehman <https://mail.aol.com/webmail-std/en-us/suite>, K4AC, requesting disqualification of Greg Sarratt <https://mail.aol.com/webmail-std/en-us/suite>, W4OZK? _______ Yes _________No*
Doug has requested review by the Board of Directors and that the votes be recorded. Accordingly, please respond to ODV so your votes can be recorded by the Secretary. It is important to have these two issues resolved quickly so please try to vote sometime over the weekend if possible.
