Well, ya'll know I agree with Tom! Did I ever tell ya what I think of the FCC? (hi) 73, K5UR We've been too nice to the FCC for years and hould be demanding that they provide the public with summary information - or e should be filing the necessary FOIA requests to get the information. The CC would soon find out that it would be easier to generate the data on a egular basis than to handle monthly FOI requests. Please distribute to ODV list. hanks. ----------------------------------------------------- The NCVEC Conference news item published on the ARRL web <http://mymail.arrl.org/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://www.arrl.org/news/stories/2008/08/06/10251/?nc=1>http://www.arrl.org/news/stories/2008/08/06/10251/?nc=1 hould be the only information shared with the public about the conference. The VEC session activity stats below were provided by FCC as a courtesy and are ot intended for public release. At the bottom of the original email from the FCC, that contained this data, it ead, " *** Non-Public: For Internal Use Only *** ". ctually, the amazing thing to me is that the FCC can get away without providing ccurate statistics on even the most basic functions of the Amateur Radio ervice. At one time they issued monthly information on new licensees, pgrades and callsigns - now that information has to be calculated by third arties based on the monthly FCC activity data files. How can the FCC justify providing the VEC information to VECs on a confidential asis? They're a government agency, funded by all of our taxes, and subject to reedom of Information laws.
