Below letter received this evening. April 25, 2024 Dear Fellow hams and Friends, It is with a sad heart as I write this letter. As many of you have heard by now, MFJ is ceasing its on-site production in Starkville, Mississippi on May 17, 2024. This is also the same for our sister companies: Ameritron, Hygain, Cushcraft, Mirage and Vectronics. Times have changed since I started this business 52 years ago. Our product line grew and grew and prospered. Covid changed everything in businesses including ours. It was the hardest hit that we have ever had and we never fully recovered. I turned 80 this year. I had never really considered retirement but life is so short and my time with my family is so precious. I want to thank all of our employees who have helped build this company with me over the years. We have many employees who have made MFJ their career for 10, 20, 30, 40 and more years. We are going to continue to sell MFJ products past May 17, 2024. We have a lot of stock on hand. We will continue to offer repair service work for out-of-warranty and in-warranty units for the foreseeable future. Finally, a special thanks to all of our customers and our dealers who have made MFJ a worldwide name and a profitable business for so many years. You all are so much appreciated. Phil Thanks for asking. Dick’s slide is ABSOLUTELY NOT correct. In fact, his entire presentation is fraught with errors, omissions, lies, slander, and disparagement. The lab has never stopped proving TIS support to members. Ed Hare, who is fully retired, still works in the lab every week as a volunteer and can support the team with additional support. Dick made NO EFFORT to reach out to me or to Ed Hare’s successor to ask about emails forwarded to directors re: TIS support. Dick’s presentation was meant to, among other things, DISPARAGE me and members of my staff in the lab and editorial. If you have any questions, please let me know and I’ll get them answered for you. It appears that some of you have already seen the Visalia DX Convention ARRL Forum video . For those who have not, and might be interested, information on it follows. Also, attached is the Forum slide set, should you desire a quick view of what went on. I recommend looking at slides 2, 3, and 4, which cover the relationship between ARRL membership, governance, and paid staff. Also, every item covered in the last three slides should be discussed at the A&F meeting. We have a fiduciary duty to do so. The A&F meeting should also be made available to all Directors by Zoom or some similar mechanism. Board oversight of management is the responsibility of all of us. Note that I received nothing but very strong praise from members who spoke with me after attending the forum, although a few said it was too long. Some noted that Mr. Minster's claim that some of my statements were not true was never backed up by even one single example. As always, I will always correct any factual misstatements. Mr. Minster apparently did not come off well in post forum discussions with attendees. For example, he apparently defended the Shadow Board, by saying it was "not illegal." Some League members had points that they expected to bring up with the "Confidentiality Party" team in the morning, but all of the team members appear to have escaped before League members could question them. Visalia has what might be the highest percentage of League members and supporters of any event. There were more attendees at the ARRL Forum than any other DX Convention meeting. Essentially all were League members and over half were Life Members. Sadly, there is more member dissatisfaction with the League today than at any time since when the incentive licensing program took effect. ARRL members want things fixed more than they desire them to be hidden. 73, Dick, N6AA

This is to give you an update on the business status of MFJ. I do not believe that any of this is confidential but it is sensitive since it is just happening and it is Martin's story to tell his customers and consumers. We should not be communicating this outside of ODV with respect to Martin. Yesterday afternoon rumors began circulating through the industry that MFJ had communicated to employees that it was closing its doors. That's not exactly true. We've been in touch with Martin to understand what their status is and to offer them any help, especially on communications, that we can. Martin took the decision yesterday to move all of his manufacturing out of his facility in Starkville. The facility will continue to handle sales, support, and service. They are not going out of business. They are taking steps to help their affected employees find other employment and give them as soft a landing as possible. We have offered to Martin that we can put out a clarifying story in the ARRL Letter tomorrow if he'd like to avail himself of the opportunity. That's basically what we know. There is no indication that this will affect their sales or their ability to pay for their advertising with ARRL. Thanks. David
