It is with great sadness I must report that Helen Delaney, wife of former Great Lakes Division Vice Director Tom Delaney W8WTD, passed away quite unexpectedly on Friday, February 4. To respect the family's privacy, Tom has asked that we refrain from announcing anything via social media during this trying time. John was part of our extended ARRL family, serving as a DXCC card checker here in Washington. He was very active in the Western Wa DX Club, and a personal friend. One of my division's clubs (SMARA) put out an email regarding the $35 fee. They claimed that one of their VE candidates received a return letter from the FCC saying they need to pay $35 to have their license processed. Is there anything official regarding the FCC's start date for collecting this fee? Or is this just misinformation and hearsay? Thanks Ria N2RJ

We are expecting a major ice event from early tomorrow morning through the afternoon. We are expecting roads will be treacherous and there will be power outages with downed lines. The HQ office will be closed tomorrow. Most employees have the ability to work remotely, and will. This includes the ability of Member Services to answer inbound phone calls. Management will be reachable on our cell phones and email if you need to contact us. Thanks David

Hi All. I'm not dead just slowed down a bit! As of February 1,2022 I resigned from my position as Vice Director. As you know I've been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and the only way of slowing the progression is through exercise which I do every day. My wife ,Maryann (a.k.a. the judge), ha set up a folder with your comments and spoke to NQ1R today, I'd like to thank K5UR for his words of encouragement and for keeping on the Historical Committee, to Ria,N2RJ who I broke the news of my pending retirement to,and my wife,Maryann who puts up with me!
