[arrl-odv:32877] ARRL Statement on 3 GHz to the House Subcommittee on Communications and Technology

ODV, Tomorrow the House Subcommittee on Communications and Technology will hold a hearing on multiple bills related to a variety of communications issues. One, H.R.5378, was introduced last week and would require reallocating to commercial services at least 200 of the remaining 350 megahertz of the 3 GHz spectrum. On behalf of ARRL, today Rick K5UR filed a statement addressing the legislation and concluded: “ARRL, on behalf of the more than 750,000 amateur licensees in the United States, respectfully requests that Congress take this opportunity to instruct the Commission in H.R.5378 that radio amateur secondary uses should continue to be authorized in the 3 GHz band. Doing so on a strictly secondary, non-interfering basis will provide full protection to commercial licensees with exclusive licenses and further the public interest in providing a means for continued technological innovation.” A copy of his full statement and the legislation are attached.
