WK2XUI, a commercial experimental license for L3 Harris , is authorized to use 25 watts narrowband FM anywhere (presumably including the satellite window(s), on the ham band for two years or so. Maybe this will amount to nothing if testing is intermittent and far between sessions. The latest ARRL IN-Newsletter contains the two following items: 1) West Central Florida Section Manager Darrell Davis, KT4WX, has been nominated to run for a new term of office. Donni Katzovicz, W2BRU, has been nominated to run for the office of Section Manager of New York City-Long Island. Nominations for this election cycle are due on September 4, and the new terms begin on January 1, 2021. 2) Carla and Dee also continue to manage nomination requests and submissions for the 2020 Director/Vice Director elections. In items 1, information is provided to the Board on nominations for Section Manager elections as those nominations are received. In case 2, it is implied that two staff members have information on nominations for Director elections that they are not sharing with the Board. Notification Request In accordance with Connecticut Revised Nonstock Corporation Act, Section 33-1239, Inspection of records by directors, I request notification notification of nomination submissions as they are received at Headquarters. If other Board members feel the same, they might make the same request. Unusual Nomination Procedure The League's nomination procedure currently has an open announcement of candidates only after the close of nominations. This appears to differ from governmental election procedure, where candidates for office are publicly identified when they file. Is there some benefit to the ARRL, Amateur Radio, or the public, that the Director nominations be kept concealed until after it is too late to file? Do we get better Directors this way? I think not. I suggest we follow the rest of society, and release Director nomination information as soon as it is available. This could be accomplished on the ARRL.org web-site. Comments welcome. 73, Dick, N6AA

A quandary for the legal guys: A local club here is Oregon (ARGO) is asking me to promote their upcoming "in-person" VE session to NW Division members in OR and WWA Sections via a special bulletin. Hams are certainly looking for "live" VE opportunities these days of social distancing, but I just looked at the ARRL website and noted that the event is sponsored by Laurel, a competitor of the ARRL in the VEC exam market. They are not using the ARRL as the VEC. This seems to be an issue to me, (in a way, promoting a competitor's product), but I don't know how big an issue it is for the ARRL. Guidance? 73; Mike W7VO
