HQ is now operating on a generator so the phones and server should be working, however normal operations will be disrupted until power is restored. Joel

Power Out at HQ

Dave just called from his cell phone. We have lost electric power at ARRL HQ due to a line complication down the street, and it is expected to be off for a couple of hours. This will impact email and phone operation there, so if you are trying to contact HQ or receive an email about someone being unable to reach HQ, that is the reason. Joel

To: ARRL ODV From: Harold Kramer Date: October 1, 2008 Subject: Fathom Project Update Last week, as requested by Jim Fenstermaker, Chairman of the A & F Committee, I sent the A & F Committee this update on the Fathom Web Project. A number of Board members have also asked me about the project since that time, so I am sending a copy of this update to the entire ODV List. The Fathom project is moving ahead, although, a little slower than planned. This delay was not unanticipated, particularly with the hurricane season tying up staff time during the last weeks. We have now finalized the new site's overall design. The design team here at HQ approved the latest iteration last week. This includes the home pages, both member and non-member versions, the design for the content pages and the overall navigation scheme. We will preview the design at the A & F Committee meeting in November and Fathom will do a presentation at the January Board Meeting. We have also made significant progress on the new site's architecture and navigation. As I have previously stated, this is our greatest challenge because of the large amount of content located on our site. We have been working as "content teams" to develop the new architecture and update the content. Each team is comprised of two to five "appointed "employees. We have invited other employees to participate in team meetings as required. For those eagle-eyed readers who received the first report, we updated the Membership team since the first report. Some are almost finished. We will be having another round of review and discussions between Fathom representatives and the Teams to review their progress beginning this month. Concurrent with the content teams, Jon Bloom and his staff have been holding discussions with Fathom to assure that the new site will be compatible with our current site's technology. Much of their discussion has been focused on the new E-Commerce/Web store component of the site since we were planning to upgrade the E-Store in 2009, regardless of the Fathom project. On our current time line, we expect to wrap up all of the design and architecture sometime in April or early May 2009. This will finish Phase 1 and deliver the complete plan for the new web site.
