Walt, I am not intending to be facetious when I ask if there are thoughts, again, to change the name American Radio Relay League to Amateur Radio Relay League via The Future Mission statement you distributed for our review. I suspect not, but . . . I admit that I've not gone through the document, but the title page and subsequent referrals I noted to the League caught my attention. Hi All, After our strategic planning session, I spent some time discussing the outcome with one of my RM division advisors, Dick Keifer, K0DK. Dick felt that we should have emphasized public service more than we did, and had several other suggestions relating to the mission statement and other matters. His suggestions are contained in a document which is attached. He offers them with no expectation that any of his ideas will be incorporated into our final plan (though his thoughts are more in concert with the board's than he might expect). He simply thought that we might find the well considered views of a rank and file member valuable as we work on this matter. I shared this with Coy and he asked that I circulate it to the board, as a prelude to our consideration of the strategic plan, which will be on the agenda in January. The following Radio Amateurs of Canada Bulletin released yesterday announced the new slate of officers. President-elect Daniel Lamoureux, VE2KA, is ex-VE2ZDL (I mention this because you may find some earlier mentions of him under that call sign). Daniel is the longtime RAC Director from Quebec and is well known to us. He has been an RAC delegate to the past two Region 2 Conferences and in 2001 was trained in Newington to teach the Amateur Radio Administration course (see Web story at http://www.arrl.org/news/stories/2001/10/01/1/ for a couple of photos of him) so we would have another French-language instructor available for Africa.
