I'm about off to Africa (5Z4-land with a 5-day stop in PAo-land). I will be back the evening of 8/29. I might have some email capability in Amsterdam (though that might be compromised by the nature of the second hand smoke in the internet cafe's there). Jim, K9JF, can handle things while I'm gone. BTW Dave, NT1N, did an outstanding job at the Pacific Northwest DX Convention over the weekend. Great explanation of Logbook of the World. 73/Greg W7OZ

Strategic planning is strategic planning! The basics of such an effort are the same regardless of what is being planned. 6 AUG, 2002 - 1455 CDT It's my understanding that all ARRL officials would, by default, start receiving all documents via electronic means unless individuals ask for paper copies. Rick, if you look at the long-term trend on staffing you'll see that we have been successful in supporting more programs with fewer staff. That's one reason we have been able to keep the dues increases below the general inflation rate for the past 20 years. I don't have any knowledge of the planning expertise of the members from outside the Board and staff that Jim has appointed to the planning committee. However, as a general principle I don't think it implies any shortcoming to look for supplemental expertise beyond the Board and staff.
