[ARRL-ODV:9463] Logbook of the World Update

Logbook of the World is starting its second week of operation and is off to a great start. The total number of US digital certificate requests is over 1800, and there are another 274 non-US. We were quite busy over the weekend -- today's password batch mailing included 728 postcards. Certificate requests for DX stations require documentation to be mailed to HQ, and some have already started to arrive. We expect the first batch of digital certificates to be emailed today to those who have received their postcards and entered their passwords on the Web site. After that, log data submission will begin. Once log data is submitted, users will be able to see and sort their QSO data using the same tools available during the beta test. The last significant piece of work needing development are the Web pages to manage and submit Logbook credits for awards. We have finalized the fee schedule for using Logbook QSL records for credit for DXCC, WAS, VUCC and other awards. The basic fee is 25 cents per credit, with a discount schedule for volume users: 1-49 credits, 25 cents each 50-99 credits, 22.5 cents each 100-249 credits, 20 cents each 250-499 credits, 17.5 cents each 500 or more credits, 15 cents each Credits may be applied to any award supported by Logbook of the World, and users may buy credits in advance and use them over time. For example, a user may want to use 40 credits for a DXCC application today, but elect to buy 100 and save 60 for future submissions. Staff, in particular Jon Bloom, Wayne Mills and Dave Patton, have been busy answering correspondence and helping people through the process. The system is being tweaked and the online documentation is being updated as we identify problem areas, but so far there are no big surprises. 73, Mark K1RO
