[arrl-odv:22092] W100AW progress

We have learned that Congressman Walden sent a letter to the FCC yesterday requesting them to resolve our request to be allowed to use W100AW during the centennial year. Apparently as a result of that letter, the FCC phoned Chris Imlay later in the day to get the specifics of our request. We do not have anything in writing from the FCC at this time, so it would be unwise to make an announcement or do anything but keep it under our hat for the time being. One step closer .... 73 - Kay N3KN

Further to Kay's message, I am pleased to report that yesterday a revised W1AW license arrived in the mail from Gettysburg bearing the following endorsement: "From 1/1/14 to 12/31/14, licensee may also use call sign W100AW for station identification." The reference copy, available for anyone to view via the FCC ULS, is attached. We are planning to use W100AW for two-way QSOs from Newington throughout the year as well as for portable operation from the regional centennial conventions, e.g. W100AW/5 from Plano. This nicely resolves what otherwise would have been a conflict between the convention operations and the "W1AW Worked All States" operations; the latter will still use W1AW with the appropriate portable designator. 73, Dave K1ZZ -----Original Message----- From: arrl-odv-bounces@reflector.arrl.org [mailto:arrl-odv-bounces@reflector.arrl.org] On Behalf Of Craigie, Kay, N3KN Sent: Thursday, November 21, 2013 10:42 AM To: arrl-odv Subject: [arrl-odv:22092] W100AW progress We have learned that Congressman Walden sent a letter to the FCC yesterday requesting them to resolve our request to be allowed to use W100AW during the centennial year. That's great news! Let's hope that Congressman Walden can be equally effective in efforts to help extend PRB-1 limited preemption to private land use restrictions!
