[arrl-odv:19918] Procedures during Fairfax Office Staff Absences

Occasionally, and with greater frequency as WRCs approach, both professional staffers in Fairfax may be out of the office for days or weeks at a time due to meeting attendance or leave. This is likely to be the case for all but a few business days starting next Monday through the end of June. In my experience, the volume of membership contact and Board inquiries handled by the Fairfax office is very low compared to other ARRL departments. Nevertheless, recent suggestions on ODV that key staff should take reasonable steps optimize their reachability are are noted. With this in mind: * Virginia Macfarlan has graciously agreed to change her work schedule from two days a week to four days a week through the end of June, working half days to maintain the budgeted total of fifteen hours per week. Virginia will check postal mail and telephone messages, alert the professional staff to any important messages, and make sure our facility is maintained. * Although I will be out of the country for most of this time, I will not be out of touch. This email address will be checked at least daily, and urgent messages can be sent to brennanprice@verizon.net, which will come to my BlackBerry. While I will be six hours ahead of EDT while in Europe, I will respond to emails as promptly as feasible. Email contact is vastly preferred to a cell phone call due to substantial overseas roaming charges. My goal is to make the operation of the Fairfax office appear seamless during this time, and I welcome suggestions as to further steps we can take. 73, Brennan T.
