The FCC has assigned RM numbers to two petitions filed some months ago by individual radio amateurs. In a petition received by the FCC mailroom on December 9, 2005, Murray Green, K3BEQ asked that the station ID requirement be eased to require ID only overy 30 minutes instead of 10 minutes. It has been assigned RM-11346. In a petition received by the FCC mailroom on May 19, 2006, Glen Zook, K9STH asked (this description is oversimplified somewhat) that station ID requirements that existed 40 or so years ago be reinstated. It has been assigned RM-11347. The ARRL would not normally comment on such petitions and we would expect that in the normal course of events they would be dismissed, but it's somewhat curious that two petitions dealing with the same section of the rules (97.119) would be assigned RM numbers at the same time even though they were submitted nearly six months apart.
