Here is the latest Hill visit report from Chwat & Co. for the week ending 7-4-08 Joel ARRL Weekly Update on Hill Visits Week of June 30-July 4, 2008 Representative Ed Perlmutter - Monday, June 30 We met with Ben Vonachen of Representative Ed Perlmutter (D-CO)'s office. Rep. Perlmutter sits on the House Homeland Security Committee. Mr. Vonachen handles telecom issues for his boss and seemed to know a little about amateur radio, he was also familiar with the 1996 telecom act, and he too agreed the precedent had been set by this act. I provided Ben with articles of amateur radio operators in Colorado and their emergency communication assistance during disasters. I informed him of our invaluable presence during emergencies and natural disasters. Ben said he would discuss this antenna legislation with his boss. I also discussed our BPL bill and explained our concerns regarding the interference caused by BPL. He said he would look over both the BPL and antenna packets and discuss them with his boss. I will follow-up with him after they return from the July 4 break.
