[arrl-odv:17275] Fwd: RE: FW: Convention this weekend

I had the pleasure of presenting the ARRL Technical Merit Award to Ed Hare this last weekend. As always, it was good to see Ed and his message below speaks for itself. Following the presentation at the ARRL forum, Ed gave one of his good talks on RFI issues to a good-sized audience. -- Tom

Hi, Tom,
It was nice to see you at the CT state convention this past weekend. It was good to take a short break from the work on my house.
Please pass along to the Board my appreciation for the Technical Merit Award. My being recognized by the ARRL Board of Directors was truly a very big deal for me, and the plaque will occupy a space on my shack wall forever.
Although staff work is recognized annually at ARRL HQ (and every two weeks), as is true in many organizations like ARRL, staff are also volunteers in many ways. It means a lot to me to have my volunteerism recognized by the ARRL Board, especially since issuing a volunteer award to staff is not a usual occurrence.
ARRL means a lot to many of us at HQ, and we appreciate that the Board are also volunteers, in every sense of the word. In my case, the appreciation is two way, as I appreciate the fact that there are over 30 people willing to serve on the Board, to ensure that ARRL's policy is set by the elected representatives of the members that provide the support that keeps ARRL going.
