[ARRL-ODV:11818] Re: Joel's PowerPoint

Joel, I've been out of town, but got in about an hour on the 160 test tonight. The only Board family member I heard (and worked) was K1KI. Oh, I have to tell you that I worked God -- twice. He told me after the second QSO that if I made double QSOs again in the same contest or DXpedition, I would be damned to CB. Sounds worse than striking a stone too many times. 73 Jim Weaver, K8JE Director, Great Lakes Division ARRL; http://www.arrl.org/ 5065 Bethany Rd., Mason, OH 45040 Tel.: 513-459-0142; E-mail: k8je@arrl.org ARRL: The reason Amateur Radio Is! There are a lot of good slides in the set that could be very useful in developing your own presentation for your division. There are also some slides in there that deal with ongoing discussion items like the auto and semi-auto stuff that hasn't been nailed down yet by the board, so make sure you remain aware of that. The frequency charts from Vic Poor should not be used in their original form, since they contain a misleading error that indicates no 3 KHz maximum bandwidth data modes would be allowed in the existing phone portion of the bands under the EC recommendation that that is being considered. This, of course, is not correct....there just would not be any semi-auto operation up there but two stations could use or develop new modes in that portion with operators at each end. Just remember that is still under review by the EC. Those charts were included for "board talk" Thursday evening to get us all on the same page. In any event, if you want to use some of the slides for your own presentation I would say pick and choose what you want from it, just be mindful to not use the frequency charts as they are laid out in and taken from Vic Poor's paper he sent each of you. 73 Joel W5ZN p.s. In the 160 contest last night wrked K1ZZ, K9JF, NN1N, and heard N5OK knock off a ZL this morning (no need to chime in, Rick, we know you've worked everything except God).
