[arrl-odv:26274] FW: PR Problem

Ladies & Gentlemen: I received the following advisory from W2GD that Wireless Estimator, a trade publication for the cellular and wireless industry, has upbraided ARRL for its March cover photo. The story reads a little like The New York Post with the lead headline: "Cover girl climber shot could send high schoolers to their death." My comparison is not intended to minimize the potential dangers which the article has described but rather to characterize its tone. Please note that no one from Wireless Estimator contacted us prior to release today. You may be aware that we have received comments on the allegedly unsafe practices illustrated in the March cover from a number members and other interested parties. Steve Ford and Becky Schoenfeld are already working on a plan to remediate the situation including an erratum for QST and some other educational editorial. I will advise you as soon as the material is finalized.
