[arrl-odv:27218] On-line Emergency Communications Course

Good afternoon. As announced on the ARRL web site, we have suspended registrations for the Emergency Communications course, EC-001, due to the dissolution of the content platform provider, the Connecticut Distance Learning Consortium (CTDLC) effective July 1st. Reasons given by CTDLC include issues with funding from the State of Connecticut and Charter Oak State College, CTDLC's parent. We were already considering possible alternatives to CTDLC but this announcement took everyone by surprise. Although certainly a disruption, this isn't a terrible time for this to happen as we are preparing to roll out new content for the course and there is a proposal being presented to the PSC from the PSEWG to update and revise the AREX program. In addition, there are discussions within the A&F Committee regarding whether or not to charge for this course going forward. We do, however, have to find an alternative solution for delivery of the content. We are currently working on this. We will keep you informed as we move forward and decisions are made regarding an alternative delivery platform. 73, Barry J. Shelley, N1VXY Chief Executive Officer ARRL, Inc.
