Harold Kramer, WJ1B Chief Operating Officer ARRL - The national association for Amateur Radio 860 594 0220 hkramer@arrl.org <http://www.arrl.org/> ________________________________ From: Henderson, Dan N1ND Sent: Tuesday, June 19, 2007 11:40 AM To: HQ Staff; HQ Hams Subject: Field Day Friday at ARRL HQ is THIS Friday June 22 And YOU are invited to Get Bitten By the Bug! Field Day is by far the largest amateur radio activity in the US every year. Tens of thousands of amateurs across the US will be involved at thousands of locations across the US, Canada and in other countries. As a way to help each employee broaden their understanding of "what this radio-stuff is about", we are pleased to announce Field Day Friday at ARRL HQ. On Friday June 22, the ARRL will be providing Lunch for its HQ staff and inviting all staff to participate in a couple of activities during lunchtime. We will provide Subway sandwiches, chips, drinks and dessert for each employee. We will also have two "activity" areas set-up which will demonstrate a couple of amateur radio activities, Whether you are an experienced operator, newly licensed operator, or a non-licensed employee, we encourage you to visit the two demonstrations during the lunch break. The first will be a demonstration of the popular PSK-31 Digital mode by Steve Ford in the main Conference room. The second will be a "hands-on" opportunity to work with individual mentors one-on-one at W1AW to make an on-the-air contact and hopefully experience first hand some of the excitement that is amateur radio. Lunch and activities will be provided in two shifts: 11:30 to 12:30 and 12:30 to 1:30. We ask that you coordinate with your managers which hour you will attend (to ensure each department keeps its usual staffing needs). When you join us, come to the big tent that will be set up to the south side of W1AW, where we will have the food. And as part of Field Day Friday - we encourage all employees to wear Yellow or ARRL Field Day apparel. And if you are so inclined we hope you will consider joining us as we volunteer to operate from W1AW on Saturday and Sunday during the actual Field Day operating event. It's a great opportunity for the "newbies" to come gain some experience. Come and ask questions and have some FUN! If you have any questions please feel free to contact Dan Henderson, N1ND at n1nd@arrl.org or at extension 236. Get Bitten by the Bug!!!
