To date: The Diamond Club has raised $242,447 from 1,219 donors and is currently at 82% of the goal for 2012. The Spectrum Defense Fund has raised $312,417 from 2,541 donors and is currently at 83% of goal. The W1AW Endowment Campaign has raised $54,553 in contributions from 881 donors and is at 71% of goal. The Education & Technology Program has raised $70,319 from 659 donors and $109,000 toward TI gifts. Two additional gifts toward TI are expected by the end of the year. We are at 108% of goal. The Second Century Campaign has received new commitments from three ARRL Board members, bringing the campaign closer to 100% Board Giving. The Second Century Campaign Committee has already reached 100%. The campaign currently stands at $ 3.866 million in cash and commitments. Nearly all the ARRL Maxim Society donors are assigned for cultivation and solicitation. ARRL is expecting a $25,000 gift from one Maxim Society donor. Pledge payment reminders for 2012 gifts have been mailed to the appropriate campaign donors. The campaign has forged a partnership with WRTC2014 to offer giving opportunities and VIP benefits to segments of key contesters and donors. Sales and Marketing Reported by Bob Inderbitzen, NQ1R Jackie Ferreira reports that license upgrade postcards, promoting ARRL License Manuals, were updated and sent to the printer. Mailings are sent every month to individuals who recently earned their Technician Class license (encouraging them to upgrade to General) or General Class (encouraging them to upgrade to Extra). A postcard featuring the 2012 ARRL Periodicals (QST, QEX and NCJ) on DVD is being designed. The postcard will mail to all customers who have purchased previous editions of the annual Periodicals CD-ROM. Diane Petrilli reports that responses to the final membership campaign of the year, conducted by mail, are returning in earnest. Additionally, e-mails sent this month to several different targeted groups have returned 170 new members. Jackie sent an e-mail to current members who are voluntarily subscribed to receive publication announcements, encouraging them to get a gift membership. This e-mail returned 17 first-time and "lapsed" members. He processed one Qualifying Run certificate and one endorsement. Joe began troubleshooting the station's Alpha 9500 power amplifier. He also worked the two previous week's Monday and Tuesday late afternoon and night shifts for a vacationing Scott Gee. Field Organization/Public Service Team Jim Mezey, W2KFV, has been appointed as the new, incoming Section Manager of New York City-Long Island, as of January 1, 2013. Dave Patton, NN1N, made the appointment this past week after he consulted with Mike Lisenco, N2YBB, the outgoing NYC-LI Section Manager and incoming Hudson Division Director. Mike recommended to Dave that Jim, W2KFV, succeed him. Jim, of Carle Place, New York, has been Section Emergency Coordinator for the last four years. There is presently a re-solicitation underway for nominations for the next term of office for the NYC-LI Section Manager. Nominations are due by March 8, and the 18-month term of office begins on July 1, 2013. Leona Adams has been receiving and handling many Section Manager-related expense reports as the end of the year approaches. Steve Ewald received and compiled the November Field Organization reports for February QST. Chuck Skolaut reports that radio amateurs from East Bay, Minnesota, South Florida, and North Florida successfully completed requirements to become Official Observers this past week. An update was received on the interference occurring to the 247 DX net. Several more reports of a shortwave broadcast station on 7120 kHz were received, and it is believed to be Radio Hargaisa, Somaliland. Reports of a possible 3rd harmonic being heard on 1920 KHz were received, and Officials Observers in the region are following up on it. Several reports of fishermen using 3516 kHz off the east coast were also received. Assistance was provided for requests of information on antenna restrictions and operating overseas. Chuck operated two code practice runs at W1AW and hosted guest operators twice during the week.
