[arrl-odv:14862] Re: Winter Will Finally Arrive Here

Joel, They were giving the forecast on last night to stay North of the Memphis area. It can change in a moment notice. 73, Henry - WD4Q ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joel Harrison" <w5zn@arrl.org> To: "arrl-odv" <arrl-odv@reflector.arrl.org> Sent: Thursday, November 30, 2006 11:24 PM Subject: RE: [arrl-odv:14858] Winter Will Finally Arrive Here
The bad stuff is skirting just to the north of me, so we just have a lot of cold rain.....rain is good as it will make the ground very nice under the beverages and ground radials on the shunt fed tower for the 160 mtr contest this weekend!!!

I know the board family members living in Wyoming, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri are also getting whacked by this big mid-western winter storm. We are forecast to receive between 6 and 12 inches of snow in the Chicago metropolitan area between midnite and noon tomorrow. It's been my experience that most of the bad winter storm forecasts in this part of the country never materialize as forecast.
However the Chicago Tribune weather section this morning, stated that the 8 major snow storms on December 1st were the opening storm in very snowy winters for Chicago. The last time this happened was in 1978... and we eventually had our snowiest winter on record.
Now that I have my big snow thrower ready to go, we will hopefully have much less than forecast.
