Gentlemen: We are aware of the discussion thread on Reddit.com initiated by one of the volunteers who was serving as part of the disaster relief and assistance effort in Puerto Rico. This individual, unfortunately, created difficulties for the ARRL team and the American Red Cross officials they were working under. The matter is being reviewed and addressed by the Red Cross. We also want you to know that we have drafted a statement from ARRL to be used in the event that this individual's alleged grievances become the subject of a media inquiry. The focus of our response is on expressing pride in, and gratitude for, those amateur radio operators who volunteered to go and assist in disaster relief efforts in a place where they knew they would be facing very difficult circumstances. Secondarily, we remind people that our volunteers were instructed that they were responsible for following the instructions and procedures of the organizations (such as the American Red Cross, FEMA and the U.S. military) that they were there to assist. 73, Tom
