[arrl-odv:25944] Ham Jam 2016 Sanctioning information

Tom asked me to look into the Ham Jam snafu. I called W3WL, who is the long-time chairman of Ham Jam, this morning. In Mid-late July he called HQ and spoke to Gail Iannone about what was necessary to register, as he had done in the past. During that conversation apparently Gail told Wes she would go ahead and ship out the gift certificates, since they were a long time sanctioned event, so they didn't get lost in the shuffle while she was on medical leave. That is how the certificates were sent. Wes turned the registration for the event over to N1DKO, who has done the PR for Ham Jam for several years. N1DKO has done an excellent job garnering local and regional PR but frankly simply forgot to do the sanctioning paperwork. So, the bottom line is this was a paper-snafu at the organizers end. He was quite apologetic for the crossed wires, which are pretty obviously not intentional. This morning after speaking with W3WL, the online formal application for the event was completed and filed. It was then sent it to Director Rehman, who expedited his approval and turned it around very quickly. CEO Gallagher then approved the event being added to the on-line database earlier this afternoon.
