Good afternoon. I hope everyone returned home safely. Ballots in the SM election in the Puerto Rico Section were counted this morning at headquarters with the following results: Rene Fonseca, NP3O, received 85 votes. Juan Sepulveda Mercado, KP3CR, received 48 votes. Oscar Resto, KP4RF (incumbent), received 31 votes. Rene Fonseca, NP3O, has been declared the winner. Rene was previously the Section Manager of Puerto Rico from 2012 to 2016. With 418 ARRL members in Puerto Rico when ballots were mailed, 39.2% of the members returned ballots. With larger ARRL sections, there is usually a 20% to 30% ballot return rate in SM elections. Steve Ewald will be calling all the candidates this afternoon as well as reaching out to the Southeastern Division Director and Vice Director. A story will also be posted to the ARRL web page. PLEASE, do NOT release these results outside the Board until you see the article on the web site. It's only fair to the candidates to be informed in person of the results by Headquarters.
