Even though we still have a few days left in the month, I'm pleased to report that we now have 152,000 members - exceeding the year-end forecast for membership and achieving a milestone not seen since November 2004. With strong returns from conventions and field recruitment efforts, direct mail and better retention tactics, we started August with 150,000 members - another milestone. As a good comparison of the growth that is occurring in the organization, August 2006 membership was at 147,283 - making our current membership 4,717 stronger than just one year ago. This certainly is good news for ARRL. It certainly can make it more exciting for our volunteers in the field to feel that they are part of a winning team.
