Greetings. For awhile, Savi's onslaught at the FCC to try to ramrod their high-power, high-duty cycle RFID devices through had slowed down. It sped up again, however, apparently in response to President Haynie's and my visit to OET recently, where we argued strongly against Savi's gutting of the Part 15 periodic radiator rules, and the truly horrible choice of frequency band in which to do it.
I am attaching to this e-mail a response, electronically filed today, to Savi's September 30, 2002 ex parte statement from their sleazy engineer. I will provide on request a copy of the .pdf file of Savi's filing, but you can see it for yourself at the ECFS part of the FCC web page, under the docket proceeding "01-278". I note in checking the docket today that they went back to FCC again for more meetings just in the last day or so.
Ed Hare and Zack Lau did a fine, and very quick job on this. Paul Rinaldo and I edited the text, so it was a good team effort, on short notice. I think you will agree that the Lab did a persuasive job of rebutting Savi yet again.
No idea when this proceeding will be resolved, but it is probably rather soon.
