Last week I mentioned that I was going to Sarajevo on an IARU-related mission. Here is a description of Tuesday's press conference which was the main event of the trip. The press conference was followed by a three-hour luncheon hosted by the Minister of Communications and Transport. My dinner on Sunday with the newly elected president of the Croatian society HRS, Kresimir "Kreso" Kovarik, 9A5K, was also quite interesting. Kreso is 33 years old and works for an IT firm. He reported increasing participation in the competitive aspects of amateur radio in Croatia, particularly Amateur Radio Direction Finding (ARDF) which is especially popular among young people. During his term as HRS president he plans to place greater emphasis on strengthening local clubs. 73, Dave K1ZZ
