[arrl-odv:18965] Re: Google Site Search Operational

That looks great, Harold. Can you tell us why it took so long to implement? It's difficult to imagine it took this long to index our site, albeit a very large one. Thanks, Bob vallio -- W6RGG On Tue, May 4, 2010 at 6:01 AM, Kramer, Harold, WJ1B <wj1b@arrl.org> wrote:
Hi,
The Google search is now on and working on the new Website. You'll notice that the amount of results is larger and short descriptions are displaying. We'll continue to monitor how the results are displayed over the next couple of weeks, but it looks like a the site is indexing well. We have left the "indexing in progress" message to let members know what's happening in case they happen to find a broken link.

Bob, Glad to hear that it is working better. According to the folks at Fathom, it takes at least a couple of weeks for Google's software "robots" to "crawl" over, discover and index any new Web site. We have no direct control over this process. We probably could have switched it over sooner but the results would not be very good. I am told that this in not an exact science. 73, Harold Harold Kramer, WJ1B Chief Operating Officer ARRL - The national association for Amateur Radio(tm) 860 594 0220 hkramer@arrl.org From: Bob Vallio [mailto:rbvallio@gmail.com] Sent: Tuesday, May 04, 2010 12:12 PM To: Kramer, Harold, WJ1B Cc: arrl-odv Subject: Re: [arrl-odv:18961] Google Site Search Operational That looks great, Harold.
