As a general rule, these sorts of groups give one vote to every member. So, I don’t see their reaction to our request for bigger voting voice as a slap in the face of the League. Our subsequent behavior looks arrogant and stubborn. Moreover, it’s not in our best interest to attempt to monopolize the regulatory discourse on amateur radio. I hope we’ve learned that much in the ensuing years.
Well, it isn't my place to comment on the wisdom of prior boards, but Jay Holladay and I were told to walk out of the organizational meeting of NCVEC if we didn't get our "one exam, one vote" policy in place. We didn't get that, but we didn't walk out either, and were later chastized for staying. It started our relationship with NCVEC out on the wrong foot, clearly. Our abstentions since haven't helped us influence NCVEC policies very much, it seems to me. But all that happened a long time ago, and some fences have been mended since then, largely due to Bart's abilities, I think. Chris
