[arrl-odv:19893] H.R. 607 story on National Public Radio

A story on H.R. 607 and its effect on Amateur Radio is scheduled to be broadcast on National Public Radio's "All Things Considered" program on Saturday evening ... that's tomorrow. I was interviewed for the story on Wednesday. Joe Taylor K1JT was interviewed also, at my suggestion, because he operates weak signal, and the fact that he's a Nobel Prize winner who can talk about ham radio in regular people's English crossed my mind, too. I also referred him to another source, but I don't know if that interview took place. An interesting sidelight is that the engineer who ran the board for my end of the interview at the PBS station studio in Roanoke, Virginia, is Bart N4ZV. He said there are a number of hams at the station. You can never tell how these stories will work up. I know what *I* said. It's just a question of how that is worked into the reporter's overall story. Allen Pitts was the key player in bringing this all about. NPR came to us, but it took good work on Staff's end to translate the interest into a story. 73 - Kay N3KN
