[arrl-odv:25981] Parity Act update

Good Afternoon ODV - On Wednesday, Chris Imlay, Frank McCarthy (TKG) and I met with Senator Blumenthal’s staff. Our purpose was to ask for the Senator, the co-sponsor of the Bill in the Senate, to intercede on our behalf directly with Senator Nelson. The meeting went well and his staff told us that they would recommend to the Senator that he do just that. We hope to know the results of that ‘ask’ next week. Chris and I have a meeting with Senator Nelson’s Chief of Staff this coming Tuesday morning in our effort to shake the bill loose. I’ll let you know how that goes next week. As the current Session of Congress winds down, the parties are choosing their new leadership. Congressman Greg Walden, W7EQI, was elected as the incoming Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, the committee of jurisdiction. This is a move up from his term as chair of the Communications and Technology subcommittee. Should the Parity Act not make it through this year, we will need to continue to have his support as we move forward in the 115th Congress. Finally, the latest numbers from the second email campaign are as follows: 47,422 messages total 1,814 messages to Nelson Thanks to all who asked their membership to participate. Your help is greatly appreciated. Have a great weekend. 73 de Mike - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Mike Lisenco, N2YBB Director, Hudson Division Chairman, ad hoc Legislative Advocacy Committee ARRL - The national association for Amateur Radio™ 917-865-3538 n2ybb@arrl.org
