[arrl-odv:20542] 472 kHz issue temporarily bogged down

The 472 kHz amateur allocation did not make it through Plenary on first reading this afternoon. The Plenary bogged down on well-meaning editing of footnote text that had been agreed at the Sub Working Group level and had been reviewed at both the Working Group and Committee levels without difficulty. It will get sorted out, but for now the Conference Chairman has moved on to other documents. It seems unlikely to me that we will return to the issue in Plenary until Tuesday. Dave

I share Dave's confidence that this will be sorted out. During the debate, it was notable that the lone administration that had either argued against an allocation or for a much more restrictive allocation to the bitter end actually proposed (in my view) the most helpful and least confusing edit. That said, the chair of the Sub Working Group is baffled that text that gained wide acceptance at prior levels, and in some cases is modeled after existing text in the Radio Regulations, is suddenly imperfect. 73 de Brennan HB9/N4QX ________________________________ From: arrl-odv-bounces@reflector.arrl.org on behalf of Sumner, Dave, K1ZZ Sent: Fri 2/10/2012 12:27 PM To: arrl-odv Subject: [arrl-odv:20542] 472 kHz issue temporarily bogged down The 472 kHz amateur allocation did not make it through Plenary on first reading this afternoon.
