The NCVEC's petition to drop the code requirement has been posted in its entirety QRZ.com and the fun has begun. Mostly personal insults (I seem to recall somebody calling Fred Maia a "pimp" before I quit reading the thread) -- some of these folks would fit right in on "Jerry Springer." There is some support among the party-goers for the idea of 5 wpm for Extra only. Of course, that wouldn't fit in with the petition's argument that giving code tests is a burden to the VEC's. Slippery slope, that is (as Yoda might say), because one could carry that logic to the conclusion that giving *any* tests is a burden to the VEC's. Of course, no one's holding a gun to their heads to be in the VEC business in the first place. 73 - Kay N3KN
