[arrl-odv:24631] Legislative advocacy now

I'd like to underscore the importance of acting now to push members to write, phone, and/or e-mail the offices of their Senators and Congressmen before the end of the August recess -- especially the key ones listed in Dave's recent e-mail to Directors. Your e-mail bulletin capability is well suited to getting that done. A great many letters have been generated at conventions this summer, and big thanks to everyone who has helped in that effort. May I also refresh everyone's attention to Mike Lisenco's e-mail ODV:24582, titled "A suggested e-mail to your members." How long will it take to customize Mike's template and send it out? Please do not delay lighting fires under the members in your Division, especially the ones in key districts. We can't expect members to be any more dedicated to this effort than we are, because the ARRL Board is the leadership of Amateur Radio in this country. A member recently sent me a suggestion about increasing the traffic at the letter-generating booths at conventions. He suggests having a public-address system announcement made several times during the day, directing people to the letter-writing booth. Maybe this was done at the convention he attended and he simply didn't hear it. They are high-noise environments. Anyhow, it's a suggestion to think about. The CAI is spreading misinformation, as you know, which makes our aggressive outreach with the truth all the more important. Some members are seeing the CAI messages and are becoming concerned. A rebuttal to the CAI's lies was attached to Chris's message ODV:24613. I plan to have a copy of that memo on hand when I go to the Roanoke Division Convention on Labor Day weekend, in case questions come up. I know you have many responsibilities, but getting more members fired up about this legislation and contacting their Senators and Congressmen is critically important now. Thanks and 73, Kay N3KN

If Dave sent a list of het officials only to Directors, I do not have it.
