Exactly. The connotation of the word is still negative in the eyes of the public. I still see reports in the local news media about “Hams Radio Hackers” interfering with Public Safety radio systems here in the tri-state Philly area over the last few years. Boefungs I am sure. They are not hams, just criminals harassing police on analog repeater systems. But you know we all get thrown in the same bucket.
